  • Typically used for TCP or UDP clients
    • Also used for RPC services running on TCP or UDP (hence the portmapper service)
  • Default range: 1025-5000
    • Highest port: MaxUserPort registry value
    • Exceptions in this range: ReservedPorts registry value
    • Do not appear in the registry by default
