5.1 How does the filesystem ciphering work ?

• losetup associates a loopback to a partition.
  • If a ciphering algorithm was chosen then you are prompted for a password.

• The mounting operation is done by associating a loopback to the desired partition.

• All the data sent to the loopback is ciphered and then written on the partition.

• All the data read from the loopback is deciphered and stored in memory.
