Protocols

IPsec is divided into several protocols:

AH: Authentication Header used for data authentication

ESP: Encapsulating Security Payload used for data encryption and authentication

IKE: Internet Key Exchange used for key management

Several mechanisms are also been used:

SA: Security Associations which are data structures containing parameters relative to the different encrypted flows

Security policy which defines how to process the different types of flows
